1. UserTesting

User Testing pays anywhere from $10 to $60 per session

When I was at university, and looking for ways to support myself, I chanced upon UserTesting.com and it was by far the easiest to set up and at $10 to $15 per 20-minute session (sometimes shorter) it actually offered a high return on investment! I was thrilled, just as I am now to share this with you.

UserTesting is, by far, the most popular and well paying of all the options on our list.

The process of applying to become a tester is quite simple. After you sign up with your email address, you are asked to take a simple test. Since UserTesting focuses mainly on websites and mobile applications, you will generally be asked to talk through the process of using a new feature. Most of the tests are recorded, but some may be with real people and therefore longer in duration - these can often pay around $60 per hour-long session!

Bear in mind, that this is definitely not enough to replace your full-time income because you won't qualify for all the tests that come your way, but it is definitely good enough to earn that little bit extra.

2. UserZoom / IntelliZoom

UserZoom has shown a huge amount of growth over the past couple of years, managing to acquire a number of its competitors and now has over 120 million participants in its user pool. You can sign up to become a part of their panel via their IntelliZoom platform.

The selection process is extremely straightforward, you can start testing as soon as you finish the registration process and answer 3 basic profiling questions. Most studies take an average of 10 to 20 minutes to complete. As you complete more and more studies, you will be assigned a quality rating. The number of tests you become eligible for can go up as your quality rating increases.

Studies come in two major forms. Paid surveys are shorter and you get around $2 per survey. Longer studies where the user is expected to think out loud pay around $10 per session.

3. Userlytics

UserLytics is another platform that pays users to test websites and mobile apps. Registering is easy - to join their global community of user testers, you only need to complete a short & easy form.

You can perform tests via their web platform or mobile app. Once your test results have been approved, you can be paid anywhere from $5, $10, $15, $20, or other amounts. Some of their bigger projects can also pay as much as $90 - all for having fun expressing opinions while navigating the web! Payments are made via PayPal.

UserLytics also provides some variety because you can test and provide feedback on applications, prototypes, and concepts along with websites.

4. Enroll

Much like the other platforms on our list, to test with Enroll, all you need is a WiFi connection and a digital device. A great thing about Enroll is that you can take the tests on almost any device – phone, tablet, and desktop. You get to choose what is best. Jobs vary in both payment and time, and you can get paid via PayPal!

5. TestingTime

TestingTime is a bit more involved compared to the other platforms on our list. Instead of doing recording, TestingTime focuses on in-person and video call interviews. The studies are longer in duration, which means that you also get paid more.

You will be able to earn some money with every test, but it will not be enough to make a living. This is largely due to the fact that you will be invited to tests on an irregular basis. How much exactly you will earn will depend on the type and length of each particular study, as well as on whether you will be able to participate in it from home or have to attend in person.

Tests can last anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, and you get paid the most amount for in-person tests and the least for surveys. You can earn up to 50 euros per study.
